Full Recap

The first contestant, Dewone Robinson, 27, a sales associate, Atlanta, is feeling confident, saying music is in his blood. His great uncle Clyde discovered Gladys Knight and the Pips, and and another kinfolk of his is Motown Bobby who played the drums. This isn’t going to go well, is it? He makes up songs and says it comes natural to him.

Dewone sings one of his own compositions, and music is not in his blood. He sings falsetto, then switches to a baritone. It’s odd. Everone is laughing. Simon asks if it was written as a duet, and Dewone admits he was singing two different parts. Simon tells him he can honestly say it was one of the worst original songs he’s ever heard. He blames his failure on Simon asking what it’s called, then breaks out into some Rick James. Simon gives him an experiment, saying he won’t interrupt him at all, and after Dewone sings his original song uninterrupted, Simon tells him the resulting effort is even worse. He keeps singing his original song in the elevator on the way down.

Keia Johnson, 26, a marketing representative, Memphis, has a very sunny disposition and even sunnier yellow pants. She won Miss Congeniality in the Miss America pageant. Simon thinks he’d rather have an award that says he’s good-looking. And frankly, he would win that before he won a congeniality award. Kara tells her she’s beautiful and should have won.

With a singing voice that is just as sunny, Keia sings My Heart Goes On. Mary says vocally, she can sing. Randy likes the way she closes some of the phrases, and Kara can see how she won that contest, as her personality really comes across when she performs. She’s very genuine, and she’s nice to look at when she’s performing. Simon likes her, but imagines her standing in line and getting the part in Oklahoma. Mary points out again it’s the way she ends things. She very easily gets four yeses, and she’s our first Atlanta contestant to go to Hollywood.

Miriam Lemnouni, 25, Equestrian Trainer, Atlanta, is beautiful and has a voice to match. Noel Reese, 16, of Sophia, NC, sings a little Whitney Houston, and has a powerful voice for someone her age. Tisha Holland, 18, a hostess, Riverdale, GA, has some great control, and Kara thinks she’s the best they’ve heard all day. All three get through to Hollywood.

Jermaine Sellers, 26, Joliet, IL, is a church singer. He’s wanted this his whole life, so his mom told him to just go out and do it. She has spina bifida, and he’s been taking care of her since he was 17. If he makes it to Hollywood, he’ll be proving to himself that he can sing. He’s going to sing What if God Was One of Us, which Kara calls a great song. Both she and Mary seem to really get into it. So far, this is my favorite of the two days. Kara calls it a great interpretation of the song and is happy that he picked something he felt. Randy agrees this is the best vocal they’ve seen in all the cities so far. Mary calls it incredible with so much control and anointed. Four definite yeses and he’s in.

Christy Marie Agronow, 25, Atlanta, is a TV show hostess and producer of 411, The Show, and she does the numbers with her hands, then a scooping thing with her hand, and she actually thinks it’s cool. She says, “If the key to success it to do you, then this is doing her.” Okee. As she explains her show, Randy compares her to a walking commercial.

As Christy sings Pat Benatar, I have to ask how someone that’s in entertainment can not realize she doesn’t sing all that well. She’s way too overly dramatic as well, but that’s not so much a surprise. Afterwards, Christy says this is her battlefield today, as this is her passion. She wants to go to Hollywood. Simon tells her based on that song she won’t be. Kara tells her they have their own 411 for her, and think it should be 911 instead. This is not what she should choose for her career. Christy’s mom tells Ryan she thinks she’ll have a golden ticket. Suddenly Christy appears out of the elevator and isn’t very happy.

The last person of the day is Vanessa Wolfe, 19, a fast food associate, of Vonore, TN, who likes to jump off bridges, saying the higher the better. She figures her hometown is the probably the smallest town in Tennessee, and her mom lives right down the road. She feels stuck there, and that’s not hard to figure. She’s wearing a dress she got for $4.50 at the dollar store in Smyrna. She’s nervous and doesn’t want anyone to look down on her.

Vanessa sings a little nasally, but has some musicality and does have something they can work with. Her mom is outside waiting for her and admits to having butterflies for her. Kara tells her she’s better than she thought she was going to be, and she thinks Vanessa is very authentic to country music. Simon likes her, but thinks she’s incredibly ill-prepared. yet when she’s good, she’s really good. She stands out in a crowd, and he, too, finds her authentic. She tells him if she didn’t have a dress on, she’d throw him a backflip. She gets four yeses and starts to cry, then starts screaming and says her mom is going to have a heart attack. Simon makes her promise to practice and start believing in herself. She tells Ryan she’s going to go to Hollywood and ride on an air-o-plane, as she’s never been before.

At the start of day 2, Ryan tells us the first contestant could use his luck turned around. Jesse Hamilton, 26, a welder, Anniston, AL come close to death quite a few times. He had tick fever when he was real young, and his grandpa came in and found him limp like a dish rag. A little older he was shooting pistols with his buddy and almost got hit by a speeding bullet. Two months ago he almost go run over in his yard. He figures it’s just the good Lord looking at him. I have to have the closed captioning on to determine what he’s saying, as I can’t understand him. He stumbles over the lyrics to a Garth Brooks song, so Randy helps him out a little. I think he did it just so he could watch Mary try to contain her laughter. Simon isn’t in the mood for jokes, saying the whole thing was terrible. He thinks Jesse is a nice guy and should just go back to welding. If anyone is going to survive welding,

Holly Harden, 20, an office assistant, of Rockmart, GA, seems to have found a loophole for the rule of not being able to play an instrument in your audition. She’s a human guitar, with the fret on her like a neck tie, guitar glasses, and and the tuning part of the fret coming off her head. She tells Simon she was a guitar for Halloween and everyone thought it was so cute. She thinks she can win the show.

Singing You Ain’t Woman Enough to Take My Man, Holly’s singing voice is much lower than her speaking voice. Simon tells her she also looks a little like an insect, but he thinks she’s fun with some personality. Randy thinks she’s funny and Kara agrees. Normally she’d write someone off coming in like that, but she finds Holly ballsy and thinks she has a good voice. Mary just says, “I don’t get it.” Randy and Kara vote yes, Mary votes no, and Holly pleads with Simon to say yes, saying that Simon is gorgeous. Yeah, that did it. She walks out with a golden ticket.

Mallorie Haley, 20, a server, Winner, SD, walks in before the judges and tells Randy she’ll be singing Piece of My Heart. She sings a little like Vanessa, with a better voice, but less personality. Mary hopes she’s not premature, but thinks Mallorie could go to Hollywood. It was the best vocal she heard so far. It was dope. Kara really liked it too and liked that she knows who she she is. Randy liked that Mallorie owned being a country singer. Simon liked that she was fearless and had great energy. She gets four yeses, and she’s in.

Antonio “Skii Bo Ski” Wheeler, 22, a Designer/Salesman, Orlando, has the American Idol logo shaved into his head. He thinks he judges will throw their hands up and tell hi they’ve been waiting for him. He tells them he’s going to be the next big thing and they’ll be blown away. He sings Heard It Through the Grapevine and is good … until he tries a falsetto that doesn’t go over too well.

Skii Bo Ski compares himself to the dollar store and says because you can have all this stuff that you want, yet it comes in a package and is only a dollar. Simon is put off by the outfit and thought the singing was awful. Kara thought it was going to be a disaster, but he really had a good voice. Mary was impressed vocally, but image-wise, if he could make that match his vocal, he’s going to be alright. Randy thinks he should lose all the other nonsense and keep the vocals. Simon votes no, while Mary and Kara vote yes, and Ski Bo Ski nearly talks himself out of Randy’s yes, but gets it anyway. He’s in.

Lauren Sanders, 18, and Carmen Turner, 19, are BFFs and college students from Baxley, GA. They’ve been friends since 3rd grade and spend every weekend together. Ryan asks what will happen if one person makes it and the other doesn’t, but they don’t think that will happen. They admit to Kara they get in too much trouble together. They’re singing separately as they have two totally different voices.

Lauren admits her voice is quiet, but thinks they’ll love it. It’s okay, but really not that good. Carmen has an honest shot at this. Simon thinks Carmen is obviously better but only likes them in the group of two. They’re funny as a group but boring alone. He thinks they should be called the Ditz Sisters. Randy says yes to Carmen and no to Lauren, and Kara agrees, telling Lauren she needs to support her BFF. Mary agrees. Simon notes he would have said no to both, but now Carmen is through. Simon thinks it’ll get difficult now between them. It’s clear that it is.

Simon takes a breather, but the auditions continue on without him. Bryan Walker, 25, is a police officer. He likes to go out and protect the people and help them out. If he gets to Hollywood, he knows it will completely change his life. He sings Superstar, and is actually surprisingly good. Simon’s going to regret missing this one. This is what Kara loves about the job, as he was better than she thought he was going to be too. What Randy loves the most about him is that he loves that fakeout, and the singing cop is hot. Mary doesn’t think he even has to try and prove anything with his voice. It’s just there. He’s going to Hollywood, getting three yeses.

Lamar Royal, 20, unemployed, Goldsboro, NC, is very excited about performing in front of Mary J. Blige. She’s an idol herself and a big superstar. He says he will respect the judges’ opinion no matter what, and he loves constructive criticism. Why don’t I believe that? He’s a little too screechy and yells way too much as he sings. Randy has mad love for him, yet calls it kind of tortuous as the pitch was all over the place and he doesn’t think he’s that good. Kara says she’s not going to to say he’s not any good, and he starts to get upset as she tries to explain she’s not going to say that.

Randy asks if he’s a good listener, but Lamar keeps singing, trying to change his mind. Mary tries to tell him he has to find some humility and stop trying to exalt himself. He just keeps running. Randy tries to tell him no, because he’s not ready yet, and he starts singing yet again. When they stop him, he swears at them and walks off the stage. He comes back in, and Randy tries to tell him again they’re trying to find the best. He starts singing some Stevie Wonder, and tons of security come to get him and escort him away in the elevator. He’s still swearing, talking bad about the show and Mary. Lamar sings and swears again outside. I think Simon will be glad he missed this. Yet, the previews blew this and the cop thing way out of proportion.

Simon returns, and our last auditioner is up. General Larry Platt, 62, a veteran, Atlanta, is obviously too old for this, but the judges appear to be humoring him. He explains he’s singing a song called Pants On the Ground. He sings and dances about looking like a fool with your pants on the ground. Everyone is cracking up. Simon has a horrible feeling the song is going to be a hit, and Randy is just going to help his pants stay up by buying a belt. Larry explains he’s 62, and Simon tells him he’s too old, but he thinks they’ll see Larry again as he has a feeling about him. Randy and Kara break out in song … Larry’s song, Pants On the Ground.

Full Recap

The first person to audition and step inside out of the rain is Janet McNamara, 26, an accountant, Somerville, MA, who claims she’s only been singing well for about two years, and really jumped up her game playing the American Idol game. This one isn’t going to go well, is it? Singing and dancing onstage are what she wants, and she plans to do what she does in job interviews, which is jumping up and down in the bathroom telling herself she’s awesome. She jumps right in in front of the judges and Simon is incredulous that the game might actually work. She sings Pocket Full of Sunshine. Simon wants to open a window, but is told his character liked her on the game, Randy liked her about 90%, and Paula always thought she was “fricking awesome.” She says that as she points at Kara, who is more bothered by that than Janet’s singing. This Simon character says no, as well as non-Paula, Victoria, and Randy. She tells her friend and Ryan Seacrest that Paula thought she did good.

Maddy Curtis, 16, Bluemont, VA, is number nine of twelve kids, which she calls a crazy and awesome experience. The child right before her has Down’s Syndrome, and says they always did everything at the same time, but he needed more of a companion, so they adopted a baby with Down’s Syndrome, then another. Maddy thinks we need to see the world the way her brothers do. She’s freaked out to see the judges in the flesh, and Simon jokes they’re not robots.

Singing the Hallelujah, Maddy is our first good audition of the year. Simon tells her she has a good voice with some soul, and Randy didn’t think she’d be good, but actually really liked her. She had great control. Victoria thinks she has a beautiful voice, although she was a bit nervous. She thinks she has an old soul about her, and Kara found her to be authentic and singing from the heart. Simon tells her that amazingly she’s not annoying for a 16 year old. With four yeses, she’s through, and she stops to thank the judges on the way out. Refreshing. Her brothers give her balloon flowers afterwards.

Pat Ford, 17, Derry, NH, dances to entertain everyone while he’s waiting. He likes to “Hollah.” He asks Simon if he’s ready, which of course he is. He sings Womanizer and is entertaining in a sad sort of way. And if anyone was not a womanizer, it would be this guy. He tells Randy afterwards he thought he did awesome, and then tells Simon he thinks he’s even sassier than on TV. He knew Kara would be a sweetheart. Randy figures Pat has a lot of friends, and Simon notes he never had friends. I’ll be your friend, Simon. He gets four noes, and Randy asks him to stop singing forever. He asks to give Kara a hug, and she accepts it.

Jennifer Hirsh, 22, a receptionist, of Manhattan, doesn’t have the conventional Idol look, but she’s really interesting singing a jazzy version of Ding Dong the Wicked Witch Is Dead. Claire Fuller, 23, a college student, of Philadelphia, has more of a conventional look and sings just as well. Jess Wolfe, 24, a booking agent, of Brooklyn, is the third girl in a row that gets all yeses. Yet by noon, only gals have gotten through.

Amadeo Diricco, 28, a bartender, Johnston, RI, would describe his family as “a feat for no man.” They have big family dinners at least once a week, with cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. He wants to get his foot in the door and thinks his life will change today for the better. He tells Simon his wife pushed him into auditioning, along with some other people.

Singing a Muddy Waters song, Amadeo could be good, but loud. At the end he shows a little control. Victoria tells him he has a huge voice and a lot of passion and seems like a really nice person. Kara feels like she’s home with her cousin and figures he makes a mean sauce. Randy likes his personality because he’s like a real guy. Simon explains in a weird way, this is his favorite audition of the day, because he likes him, and he’s sincere with a huge likability. He gets four yeses, and he’s the first guy through. His male family members are there to greet and tackle him when he gets out with his golden ticket.

Derek Hilton, 19, a landscaper, Bellingham, MA, calls himself a spiritual kind of guy and says he started getting into music when he was in a low point in his life, going on a lot of nature walks. He started pushing it last year working on his voice. The show can change your life, and he thinks if he makes it, he’ll touch numerous people. Posh asks him about his claim to sounding like Chris Brown and the Eagles. That’s an odd combo, no?

Singing Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Words, Derek is way too nasally, as Kara has to hide her laughter. Simon tells him he was channeling a lot of people, and Randy questions the nasally tone. Simon more seriously tells him it was rubbish and that he doesn’t sound like the Eagles, but sounded like twenty people at once, and all of them horrible. No golden ticket here, yet Derek still feels he’s amazing at what he does.

Mere Doyle, 24, retail sales, Walple, MA, had no umbrella outside and was drenched. Her store must not sell them. She’s an anime freak and handmakes her own kimonos. She’d like to be a successful singer in Japan. She’s been to a hundred auditions and treats them all like her life is dependent on it. She’s singing Janis Joplin. Simon is glad one of them had a good time, and notes the singing was verging on terrible. She says everyone, including voice coaches and theater directors, says she’s good. She knows this is the part of the auditions where they tell you to stop doing what you love. Simon thinks it will be the best news she’s heard, though.

A group of guys break out in harmony in the holding room. Luke Shaffer, 24, a waiter, NYC, is one of them. He has a great voice. Another is Benjamin Bright, 25, an elementary music teacher, Rome, NY. He sings some Beatles. Both of them get through, easily get through. They’re just pleasant to listen to.

Andrew Fenlon, 25, an unemployed musician, Boston, is quite irritated to have to wait so long. Kudos to the cameraman at making him look intense and crazy. When asked if he’s single? Married? Kids? He says No, yes. He doesn’t seem too sure. Once he finally gets through, he doesn’t seem ready. He issues his waiting complaints to the judges as well, then tells Simon he doesn’t think the question of why he’s there is interesting. Simon threatens to make him leave. He’s singing House of the Rising Sun and asks if they know it, as Simon tells him again he’s really pushing it. He’s not “that” bad of a singer. Not laughable, but not great enough to be here either.

Kara asks Andrew if he’s angry, as he seems on edge. He tells her he is angry, from waiting. She explains if you want to be in music, but don’t want to wait to be on American Idol, it seems to be a problem. She’s kind of pissed off about it. She tells him some people would wait years for this shot, and she’s angry at him and doesn’t like him at all. He says there’s no problem, and Simon tells him he walked in quite rude, sulky, and very aggressive, and he has very bad energy. Andrew wants to talk about it, and says he wanted to seem confident. Posh lays it out on the line and tells him he doesn’t have the goods to back it up. With three noes, Simon says he would have said yes. Kara finally tells Andrew he needs a spanking, then wants a shower when he leaves.

Ashley Rodriguez, 21, a college student, Boston, really wants this and says it’s been her dream since she was really little. She hopes the judges see that her singing comes from a special place. She sings some Alicia Keyes and does a great job. Kara loves her and her look and recognizes the difficulty in the song. She thinks she has a look and voice that is commercial. Victoria thinks she looks fantastic as well. Simon thought it was very good and says some people have got it, and she may have it. Randy issues a yes times a bazillion, trillion, million, something, and Victoria again tells her she’s naturally beautiful. She’s going through with four yeses.

Tyler Grady, 19, a college student, of Nazareth, PA, has really interesting dancing skills. He also has splints on both arms as he explains he was climbing a tree and fell and shattered both wrists. He’s a drummer, too, so it’s the worst thing to happen to him. He loves drumming, but his dream is to be a frontman. He’s seen a lot of careers started here, so he figured why not. Randy thinks he’s stepped out of 1960, but Kara argues it’s more like 1971. Simon asks if he had binoculars around his neck when he fell from the tree.

Singing Let’s Get It On, Tyler is really interesting. He’s not the best singer, but he’s fascinating and exciting. Randy says if he didn’t know better, he would have thought the girls would have liked him to continue. Victoria liked the look and the song, and Kara thinks he’s fantastic. Randy liked him as well, with the whole Morrison stance thing, and Simon thought he had good taste. Simon thinks it will be one they remember. With four yeses, Tyler’s through at the end of day one.

The first person up to audition on day two is Lisa Olivero, 24, a waitress, Billerica, MA. She finds singing to be a spiritual experience and is self-taught. She knows this is her chance to stop waiting on other people. She always wondered why she wasn’t on the show, as she thinks she’s better than the others. Singing Vision of Love, we thought she was going to be good, but she’s horribly offkey. While Kara holds her head, Victoria shakes hers. Interestingly, they both match today in dark blue. Simon thought the same, that he thought she was going to be good, but it was the craziest version of Mariah Carey he ever heard. Randy and Simon drop their jaws as she walks out, very Jessica Rabbit-ish.

After a group of bad singers, we need someone good. In walks Mike Davis, 18, Boston, He’s an actor on the Godzilla speedboat, seen out the window behind the judges. Randy wants a boat ride. I’m with ya on that one, Dawg. Mike sings Yesterday, and he’s not bad. With some vocal training I think he could do some great things with country. Simon notes his confidence, and notes it also comes without being obnoxious. Kara thinks he’s a guy she’d like to hang out with. Mike thinks they could go get some steaks sometime. Simon excuses himself from the table, saying he was going to say yes. Randy says no and walks out as well. Mike’s parents are nervous waiting, but here he comes with a golden ticket, thanks to Kara and Victoria. He tells his mom he’s pretty sure he has a date with Kara. Yeah, for steaks.

Katie Stevens, 16, Middlebury, CT, grew up in a big Portuguese family and is really close to her grandmother who doesn’t speak English and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s about a year ago. Through it all, she loves listening to Katie. Katie wants to come home to her with good news, as she won’t be with them much longer.

Katie sings At Last for her grandmother and for her audition. She’s good, and it’s surprising to have this from a 16-year-old. I think her grandmother will be hearing some good news. Simon thought it was a difficult song sung quite well. Randy thinks she has good natural talent, and Kara says to sing like that at 16 is pretty amazing. Victoria likes her stage presence, as she looks happy. She’s through to the next round. Katie calls her grandmother and tells her in Lebanese she made it. Her grandmother cries, as does Ryan.

Joshua Blaylock, 28, Business Development Manager, NYC, has his last shot at an audition because of age. He’s not bad, but it’s one of those things where it’s as polished as it can get, then he goes horribly flat. Victoria likes his voice, and Simon thinks it would have been good at 14, but there was no originality and power at 28. Posh wonders if he was playing it safe, and Joshua knows he should be more assertive. Randy instructs him to say, “Simon, shut up.” He does, and with this Simon admits he’s likable. Randy can see Joshua singing Spandau Ballet music. Joshua pleads to go through and tells Randy he will make him proud. Kara says yes on his loveliness, Posh says yes because it’s good to be polite, and Simon helps him out with a yes, as does Randy. He’s in, and Randy instructs him through some more motivational speaking.

Justin Williams, 27, a vocal coach, Sandy, UT, was diagnosed with caner seven years ago when he was serving a mission in Spain. He went through multiple surgeries and chemotherapy and now calls it an interesting, humbling experience. He’s now cancer-free. If he’s makes it through, it would mean everything to him. It would prove to himself that he did it and didn’t give up.

With a great jazzy voice, Justin sings low, and even in falsetto. Randy asks if that’s the type of singer he wants to be, and Justin says yes, more like an alternative pop soul type of thing. Victoria thinks he has a nice voice and that the girls will like him with a nice face and nice presence. Kara’s going to remember him. All four judges say yes and this guy’s news keeps getting better and better. He’s cancer-free and headed to Hollywood.

Victoria tells the next contestant he has an “interesting look.” That’s good, as I wasn’t even sure what gender we were looking at it. We have early Whitney Houston hair, a goatee, huge earrings, t-shirt, tennies, and a flashy vest and gloves. Norberto Guerrero, 18, Reading, PA, sings a song that is just as uncertain. When he forgets the lyrics, Posh says she used to do that all the time. Norberto wants to inspire others just like Michael Jackson inspired him. Simon thinks he sings like a 3-year-old girl dressed like Victoria Jackson with a beard. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, depending on how you look at it, he doesn’t make it through.

Bosa Mora, 22, Columbus, OH, mentions his mom and dad are both from Nigeria. They met in the States while attending school, got married, and had a lot of kids. They always wanted to pursue music, but saw the opportunity through him. Ryan notes if he gets through the people behind his mom won’t be able to se the stage, as she has incredibly large hats. He sings with a lot of passion. Simon calls him good but boring, and Bosa offers to spice it up a little. Posh didn’t find it boring and neither did Kara. Posh gets on Simon for rolling his eyes. Simon votes no, Victoria yes, Kara yes, and Randy draws it out, then lets him through. Bosa’s mom feels good, “God is good, and I am grateful.”

Leah Laurenti, 22, Medford, NY, grew up with really strict parents, calling it difficult to be a child in that. They went to church a lot. They couldn’t listen to secular music, but it was her way of expressing herself. She thought if it felt so good, it couldn’t be bad. She wanted it so bad and didn’t want to settle. She’s capable of achieving her goal. She’s good, but there’s also a slight screechy quality to her. Tone that down and she’ll be good. Randy thinks she’s one of the best today and likes the jazzy thing she has going on. He wasn’t expecting it. Kara thinks she’s a very good singer and notes her emotions. Randy votes yes, as does Kara, Victoria, and Simon. She’s through.

Full Recap

The addition continue, this time in Houston. The list of rejected aired acts were relatively small, compared to the acts that made it to Vegas. In all four acts were shown the door, and nine advanced on.

The first act to make it through was a group of singers called the The Texas Tenors. The three tenors sang “Mountain Music” by Alabama. Their harmonies were off at times and the singing was a little pitchy. David liked everything they did and thought they did a great job. Sharon thought they were still raw and needed more practice. Piers took a while to warm up to the act. All three judges voted them through to Vegas.

The second act to make it through acrobatic five man act called the Acrodunk. Their act consisted of jumping off a trampoline and slam dunking basketballs into a net. Their last stunt was the best. they would each take a turn doing a flip on the trampoline and bounce the ball for the next person to do the same thing with. This continued all the way down the line until the last person slam dunked it. David said they were the best he’d ever seen. Piers thought they had great music, energy and fantastic dunking. Sharon thought their energy was amazing and said she could watch them all night. All three judges voted yes and they were off to the Vegas.

The next act to make it to Vegas was a group of dancers called Live In Color. Their flashy wardrobe added a lot tp their overall act. David thought they did an excellent job. David and Sharon voted them through, but Piers’ vote was not shown.

The fourth act to make it through was a belly dancer named Anna Pipoyan. She added a little more pizazze to her act by dancing with a lite candelabra on her head. David thought her act was terrific. Sharon thought it was the best belly dancing that she has ever seen. All three judges voted yes, and she was off to Vegas.

The next act to make it was a rapper named Eclipse. David said they’ve never had a rapper on the show as good as him. All three judges voted yes, and he Eclipse was off to Vegas.

The sixth act to make it to the Vegas callbacks was an eight year old singer and keyboard player named Eleisha Miller. She sang “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner. David said was inspirational to all the kids out there, but stated that her singing needed a little work. Piers thought she was hilarious. Sharon thought she was such a delight but not a great singer at her age. Sharon voted no and was booed by the audience. Piers voted her through on her personality, not talent. David voted her through because of her personality as well. Odds are she won’t make it through the Vegas callbacks.

The next act to go through were twin brothers Lamar and Jamar Jefferson known as Timez 2, R&B singers. They sang “Yeah” by Usher. David liked their raw talent and energy and said they were terrific. Piers stated that he didn’t want to like them, but then stated they were quite good. Sharon said they needed to spend more time working on their vocals. Piers voted no, but Sharon and David voted yes and the twins were off to Vegas.

The eighth act to make it through was seventy five year old Grandma Lee, a comedian. Sharon loved her material and said he timing was great.
Full Recap

As the auditions continue, the show first starts off in New York. Thousands have shown up for a shot at the million dollars. In total, eight acts made it through to Las Vegas callbacks and five were sent away.

The first act to make it through was sixty two year old Carol Lugo. The judges weren’t quite sure what to think of her until she started dancing. She broke out into a wild, spastic dance, which included doing the moonwalk. She impressed the judges enough, maybe by her age, to be sent through to Vegas.

The next act to make it was college student and yo-yo artist Joseph Harris, otherwise known as Yo-Yo Joe. His moves were spot on and impressive. Joseph became the first yo-yoer in the shows history to make it to Vegas week. Sharon thought he was great and David Hasselhoff thought he was unbelievable.

The third act to make it through was a dancing troupe called the Diva League, which was make up of all me, women, and four fierce drag queens. One of the drag queens managed to do the splits and freak out Nick Cannon. They made it through with a yes from David Hasselhoff and Sharon Osbourne. Piers Morgan’s vote was not shown.

The fourth person to make it through was a variety act by Chris Allison, otherwise known as Coney Island Chris. He impressed the judges by eating light bulbs and joking about it not hurting until it comes out a few days later. He not only amused people, but he also shocked them by eating it and fake blood coming out of his mouth.

Next up was magician twenty seven year old Jay Mattioli. He started off by making the microphone stand levitate about the ground and then by disappearing inside a box. He put a new spin on an old trick and it was enough to impress all the judges because they all voted his through to the next round.

Now the auditions switch to Chicago and the first to make it through was Thia Megia. Thia is a fourteen year old singer from California. She sang “I Am Changing” by Jennifer Holiday. As soon as she opened her mouth and belted out the first note, the judges were amazed. The audience, along with Sharon Osbourne gave her a standing ovation. David told her that she had a beautiful God given talent. Piers told her that she was the best singer in the competition yet. She make it to Vegas week with all three judges saying yes.

Next to go through was a sister clogging act called The Fab Five. They all dance with high energy and in near perfect sync with each other. David thought they were great. Sharon thought they were fab. Piers simply stated he liked them. All three judges voted yes and off to Vegas they went.

The final act to make it through was Kevin Skinner, a highly emotional country singer, who used to be a chicken catcher. He sang “If Tomorrow Never Comes” by Garth Brooks. Piers said that his performance was one of the most emotional and powerful performances that he’d seen in a long time. Sharon said he was a very genuine person. David said that he moved us and did a great great job. He made it through with all yeses and with Piers even stating he could even win the competition.

Full Recap

As the auditions continue, half of the amount of acts made it through this week compared to last. Only eight were lucky enough to make it the Vegas callbacks.

The first act to make it through was a yodeling dominatrix named Manuela Horn. The audience and the judges were not sure if what to think of Manuela because of the outfit and then the yodeling. Maybe she lost a bet. If she sticks to the comedic portion of her act, she might make it past the Vegas callbacks, but odds are not in her favor. All three judges voted her through to the next rounds. Piers thought she was very entertaining.

Next up are The Comic-Bots, a dancing robot band. There were people holding radio controllers while other people were in the heavy robot costumes pretending to be radio controlled. They are unique and original, but not energetic, which is ok being as robots aren’t supposed to be full of energy. Piers thought it was the weirdest thing that he has ever seen.

The third act to make it through was Tom Durnin, a dancing magician. He started off by doing a magic trick with rope and then busted out dancing to “I Like Big Butts” by Sir Mix-A-Lot. He started spitting small balls out of his mouth and sticking them to his glasses. the judges loved him and he was on to Vegas.

The fourth act to pass is G-Force, an all-girl child rock band. They were your typical rock band. Not too good and not too bad. America’s Got Talent has only seen a small number of bands to date and odds are they won’t make it past Vegas.

Erik & Rickie, a pair of eight year old dancers, passed through with all yeses from the judges. They’ve been dancing together for four years. They performed to “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner. Sharon thought they did really great and David thought they did a terrific job. They need to step it up in the Vegas callbacks if they have a shot at making the top 24.

Next up is Drew Thomas, a magician. He also passed through will all yeses from the judges. He had great skill and captivity as he made women appear from out of a box and under sheets. He kept the audience and judges entertained and fascinated at the same time. Sharon thought he was the best illusionist that she’d ever seen and Piers thought he had a serious chance of winning. David was excited about finally have a magician on the show with the potential of winning a million dollars. He has a lot of potential to make it through Vegas week and on to the next round.

The seventh act to move on were Alizma, a trio of blonde violinists. The women had more talent with the violin, than they did with their voices, although David Hasselhoff didn’t think so. They performed to “Devil Went Down To Georgia” by The Charlie Daniels Band. They need to step in up in order to make it through Vegas.

The final act, a young dancer named Arcadian Broad, passed through with a yes from every judge. He showed great skill with his ballet-style dancing, but other parts were forgettable. David and Piers both thought he was great and Sharon thought he had magnificent talent.

The acts that didn’t make it through were:
Rafael Serrano — Singer
Jennifer Guadix — Variety Act
Janfier james — African Dancer
