Howie will join Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne to complete the panel of judges as David pursues a reality TV venture of his own. “David is leaving” and yes I believe Howie Mandell is replacing [him],” said NBC Universal Television Entertainment Chairman Jeff Gaspin.

“As you know, Howie was a big part of our schedule for the last several years with ‘Deal or No Deal,’ and we thought he did a phenomenal job,” Jeff told Access Hollywood. “If you think about an expertise, Howie has had a Las Vegas show for years and he constantly performs in Las Vegas. So we actually though ” not only is he a great communicator, but he’s actually an expert.”

While helping host the Today show last Thursday, Piers Morgan commented on the news, “I didn’t know anything about this until last night. My phone went and somebody said, ‘David’s leaving the show.’ I’m really shocked.

Piers added that he was very sad to hear about it. “He and I were on the first season together, we’ve done four years together. I didn’t know him before. I think he thought I was the devil incarnate from Britain, I wasn’t massively convinced by him, and we became really good friends. He’s a crazy, lovable, endearing guy who happens to have starred in the two biggest TV shows of all time ” Knight Rider and Baywatch. He was great on [America's Got Talent].”

David said the reason for his departure was that he would be working on an A & E reality series with his children due out next fall. Piers added, “He’s talked to me before about it. His real dream, I think, would be to make his own show with his family. He’s incredibly close to his kids. I’d watch that. He’s a compulsive guy to watch on TV.”
